International AI-Human Collaborative Digital Story Writing Competition!

Description: This exciting AI-human collaborative digital story writing competition is for primary and secondary students from around the world. To equip students with the knowledge and skills to participate competently in this interesting competition, 10 workshops will be offered for free to the participants!
Objectives

Students will learn to

do creative writing

use an AI-writing tool (Sudowrite) as their coach in developing their stories creatively
-
use an AI-writing tool (Sudowrite) to inspire their story ideas
-
use an AI-writing tool (Sudowrite) to help develop their writing skills in English
-
use digital story writing platforms (Storyjumper) to create an interesting multimedia and multilingual story
-
use AI tools (DeepAI) to generate artworks
-
use an AI tools to help develop their AI literacy
-
use an AI tools to help cultivate 21st-century skills (collaboration, creativity, critical thinking)

Competition Groups
Students will compete in one of the following groups
-
Junior primary group (Age: 5-8) - length approx. 10-20 pages; approx. 20-600 words; pages may include pictures, sound, etc.

Senior primary group (Age: 9-12) - length approx. 15-30 pages; approx. 100-700 words; pages may include pictures, sound, etc.

Junior Secondary group (Age: 13-15) - length approx. 20-40 pages; approx. 200-800 words; pages may include pictures, sound, other multimedia, etc.

Senior Secondary group (Age: 16-18) - length approx. 25-50 pages; approx. 300-1000 words; pages may include pictures, sound, other multimedia, etc.

Enrolment period: May, 2023 - June, 2023

Digital Writing Tools: Participants may use Sudowrite to create their own story and use any digital tools to create their eBooks, such as StoryJumper. Every student participant is expected to write at least 50% of the story and highlight the part written by himself/herself when submitting their work for the competition.

Language: Students should write the story in English. Each participant can only submit one piece of work for the competition.

Submission of work:
-
Participants must submit the link to their eBook by filling the registration form (https://qfreeaccountssjc1.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_eQAH3MjkwTTgZGm) on or before 27 August, 2023. The eBook link must be accessible without having to log in to any personal account.

Participants must submit the link to a text-only Google Docs document of their story and screen captures of Sudowrite’s history records for plagiarism checking.

Participants are required to video-record the sharing of their ebooks (4 minutes maximum), upload the recording onto YouTube, and submit the YouTube link by 27 August, 2023.

Competition Date and time: 2nd September (Sat), 10:00 am - 12:30 pm Hong Kong Time (Online).
Awards
There will be up to 10 award winners in each group. The awards include Champion, First runner-up, Second runner-up, and Merit awards (7 winners).
Prizes:

A certificate and gifts (e.g., cash prizes, eBooks, and/or souvenirs)

The award “Competing with Socrates” will be given for students who designed the best questions for the workshops on ‘How to learn the art of creating questions”

Through collaboration with a publisher, the winning students will have a chance to become “real” international authors.
