"AI and Health" & "COVID-19: Imagine, Create & Share"
Description
This competition is for primary and secondary students from around the world and it's more than just a competition. To equip students with knowledge and skills to participate competently in this fun and/or meaningful competition, a range of interesting workshops will be offered free for the participants!
Objectives
-
Help students learn about AI and be able to relate it to health issues such as COVID-19
-
Help students understand the role of robots in our society
-
Encourage children to share their experience during COVID-19
-
Provide an opportunity to help children deal with COVID-19 positively
-
Help students develop knowledge and digital skills for reading and writing (in English and the child’s native language)

Enable children to become global citizens
Competition Groups
Students will compete in one of the following groups
-
Junior primary group (Age: 5-8)- length approx. 10-20 pages; approx. 20-600 words; pages may include pictures, sound, etc.

Senior primary group (Age: 9-12)- length approx. 15-30 pages; approx. 100-700 words; pages may include pictures, sound, etc.

Junior Secondary group (Age: 13-15)-length approx. 20-40 pages; approx. 200-800 words; pages may include pictures, sound, other multimedia, etc.

Senior Secondary group (Age: 16-18)-length approx. 25-50 pages; approx. 300-1000 words; pages may include pictures, sound, other multimedia, etc.
Details of Competition

Registration fee: Entirely FREE!

Enrolment period: Oct 15, 2021 (FRI) - Apr 4, 2022 (MON)

Digital Writing Tools: Participants may use any online tools to create their own eBooks, such as StoryJumper
-
Language: Students can write the story in their native language first and then get it translated into English later. Or they can do it all in English. Each participant can only submit one piece of work for the competition. An English version of the participant’s eBook is mandatory.

Submission of work:
- Participants must submit the link to their eBook by filling the submission form (https://forms.gle/Z7DkMEJGkF1b7hTa6 ) on or before Apr 11, 2022 Sat, at 23:59. The eBook link must be accessible without having to log in to any personal account.

Participants must submit the link to a text-only Google Docs document of their story for plagiarism checking.

Participants are required to video-record the sharing of their ebooks (4 minutes maximum), upload the recording onto YouTube, and submit the YouTube link by Apr 11, 2022 Sat, at 23:59.

Competition Date and time: 16th April, 2022 (Sat), 10:00 am - 12:30 pm IST (Online). Should there be registrations from other time zones, then we will try to arrange competitions in other time zones.
Awards
There will be at least 10 award winners in each group. The awards include Champion, First runner-up, Second runner-up, and Merit awards (7 winners).
There are two kinds of awards

Regional (eg. South Asia, Africa, Greater China [Hong Kong, Mainland China, Taiwan, etc.]) 10 awards from each region
Prizes:

A certificate and small gifts (eg. eBooks and/or souvenirs)

The award “Competing with Socrates” will be given for students who designed the best questions for the workshops on ‘How to learn the art of creating questions”

Over 613 students from 13 countries and regions have joined the International Digital Story Writing Competition. 10 free workshops will be provided to the registrants. The first workshop was finished today with a happy face from each participant on zoom.

Over 860 primary and secondary school students from 15 countries/regions, including Hong Kong (China), Singapore (1), Romania (3), United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, United Kingdom, Malaysia, Qatar, Canada, Ghana, Tanzania, and Brazil have joined the “International Digital Story Writing Competition”. There are 10 free workshops for the registrants in Jan, Feb and March. Speakers of the Fifth Workshop include, Mr. Abu Najib Mohammed Tareque, the award-winning artist from Bangladesh as well as Dr. Aqsa Malik and Ms. Humera Omer Farooq from Pakistan. COVID-19 with sound knowledge
1000 primary and secondary school students from 15 countries/regions, including Hong Kong, (China), Singapore, Romania, United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, United Kingdom, Malaysia, Qatar, Canada, Ghana, Tanzania, and Brazil, and New Zealand, have joined the International Digital Story Writing Competition. To help you stay safe and to deal with COVID-19 with sound knowledge, we co-organize this challenge to inform and to challenge your knowledge regarding COVID-19. If you can pass this challenge, you may have a higher chance to “survive and thrive” despite this terrible pandemic that is affecting our lives so much!

Participants will be competing in 3 different groups: Primary group (Age: 5-12) - parent-child event, secondary group (Age: 13-18) and post-secondary & adult group (18+):
Those who pass this challenge and get at least 80% correct answers will get an electronic certificate to acknowledge their excellent knowledge in dealing with COVID-19. Besides, a lucky draw will be arranged to give out our many “surprised” prizes!

Judges from 7 countries joined the International Digital Story Writing Competition Second Judges Meeting on Apr 11 2022. 1058 registrants from 16 countries/regions have signed up this exclusive event. The competition will be held online on Apr 16. Can't wait to read the eBooks from the primary and secondary school participants!
